Ultrasound Cleaning and Maintenance Procedures

I. Power-on Check

(1) Turn on the power and check if the device starts up and operates normally, and whether there are any error messages.

(2) Record the device's name, model, hardware and software versions, and probe configuration.

(3) Inquire about the user's usage of the device.

(4) Turn off the power.

II. Remove Peripheral Components and Disconnect Cables

(1) Unplug the ultrasound's power cord from the outlet to cut off the power supply.

(2) Carefully remove the probe from the connector and store it in an appropriate place. Prevent accidental drops, collisions, or cable pulls.

(3) If the ultrasound is equipped with external devices such as a printer or video recorder, these devices should be removed and separated from the main unit.

(4) Disconnect the signal cables, control cables, etc., connected to the ultrasound. Note the interface positions of the cables for future restoration.

III. Disassembly of the Device

(1) To achieve effective dust removal, the device must be disassembled.

(2) The location of the cable connectors is very important. Although most devices have anti-misinsertion mechanisms, it is still necessary to remember the correct connection of the connectors. If there are no numbered sockets and plugs, take photos or manually mark them.

(3) Use appropriate tools and the correct method to separate the device's casing and components. With the correct operating procedure, these tasks do not require much force. Improper disassembly and the use of force will damage the device.

(4) Carefully store the removed screws and other components to prevent loss.

IV. Dust Removal

(1) Use a high-pressure air blower for dust removal.

(2) Key areas for dust removal include:

     a. Power supply chassis

     b. Circuit board chassis

     c. Filter

     d. Fan unit

     e. Keyboard, TGC controller, and trackball

V. Cleaning

(1) Use high-quality towels and a mild detergent to clean the device surface and probe.

(2) When cleaning the probe, be careful not to pull the cable forcefully.

(3) Do not wash the filter with water. If washing is necessary, make sure the filter is completely dry before installing it back into the machine.

(4) When using a wet towel, make sure to wring it out to prevent water droplets from entering the machine.

VI. Reassembly and Power-on

(1) Reassemble the disassembled components back into the machine.

(2) Carefully check the cable connections to ensure they are correct and secure.

(3) Check that all removed components and screws have been installed on the device.

(4) Reassemble the peripheral devices and cables to their original state.

(5) Turn on the power, pay attention to the device's startup process, and then check the system's functions.

VII. Completion

(1) The client representative tests the machine's functions and confirms that the device is operating normally.

(2) Restore the site to its original state and clean up.

Notes:

(1) During the above work, if conditions permit, the hospital's engineers should be invited to observe.

(2) Avoid contact with electronic components. If contact is necessary, use an anti-static wrist strap or other effective anti-static measures.

(3) Before disassembly, take photos or make notes of important parts to prevent errors during reassembly.
