Common Troubleshooting and Repair Levels for Olympus Fiber Optic Gastroscopes

1. Water leakage in the biopsy channel: This is caused by improper use of biopsy forceps and other accessories, resulting in damage to the channel. This is a Class C repair.

2. Broken fiber optic bundle: Caused by prolonged use and improper bending of the tube. This is a Class C+ repair of the light guide bundle.

3. Insufficient bending angle: Broken tip of the wire: Caused by prolonged use and wear. This is a Class C repair.

4. Insufficient bending angle: Rear end of the wire detached, or wire elongation after a period of use. This is a Class D repair.

(When bending is properly done).

5. Water leakage in the bending rubber: Mostly caused by collision damage. This is a Class D repair; simply replace the dedicated rubber.

6. Nozzle clogging: Due to incomplete cleaning. This is a Class D repair; replace the nozzle.

7. Numerous black spots or cracks in the image bundle: Caused by prolonged use or improper maintenance of the fiber endoscope. This is a Class A repair.

8. Blurred lens in the electronic endoscope: Specific faults require water leakage testing, drying, disassembly and inspection to determine how to repair (severe cases require Class A repair).

9. Mesh-like appearance when the electronic endoscope is angled: Caused by the CCD root wire breaking after prolonged use; requires Class A overhaul.
