1. Malfunction Phenomenon

2. Malfunction Analysis

The MEDISON SA6000CMT is a fully digital ultrasound machine produced by MEDISON. The SA6000CMT uses an advanced digital system - from beam to conversion technology, including all the benefits of digital technology, allowing users to obtain crystalline-high definition-solution images. In the final analysis process, the SA6000CMT, with its real-time zoom function, selectable 140° wide-angle rotating probe, and multi-frequency probe movie playback storage function, can provide users with faster and more effective diagnostic analysis.

The structure of this ultrasound machine is relatively simple. The PSA (Probe Select Assembly) board is the probe connection board, and together with the TX, RX, and BF boards, it constitutes the transmission and reception part of the ultrasound. The CW board is a continuous Doppler function board; after installation, it can add a CW measurement function to the machine; the EP, CDP, and DSC boards together constitute the image generation and processing part, where the CDP is mainly responsible for the color Doppler processing function; the OUT board is the image and signal output function board; the PC part consists of the PC Board and HDD hard disk; the power supply part is the PWR board located at the bottom of the machine.

3. Malfunction Summary

There are several possible causes for the failure of the echo area image: First, a failure of the probe or probe interface board, causing the machine to be unable to normally send and receive echoes and form an image; second, a failure in the transmission and reception part of the channel board, which would also cause the above situation; third, a high-voltage power supply failure, causing the machine's transmission function to be abnormal and affecting image formation; fourth, a failure in the machine's back-end processing, including the system and motherboard that performs analog-to-digital conversion and processing of the data after receiving the echo, resulting in abnormal image processing and inability to display.

Since there is no image from any probe, the possibility of a probe failure is initially ruled out. Careful listening to the probe shows a normal working sound, which basically rules out the possibility of a probe interface board and TX transmission board failure. Measuring the various voltage outputs of the machine's power supply, except that the high voltage occasionally outputs 70V (the marked normal value is 80V), the outputs of other voltages are normal, and the possibility of power supply failure is small. Therefore, the most likely failure is the RX board, BF board, analog-to-digital conversion, and data processing board sections. Finally, after replacing the DSC board responsible for analog-to-digital conversion, the malfunction is resolved.

After troubleshooting the lack of an image in the echo area, the machine showed abnormal blood flow and PW functions. The phenomenon is that after pressing the corresponding function keys, the blood flow and PW functions are not activated normally. This type of malfunction is usually a system-related malfunction. After replacing the system hard disk, the function is restored, but there is no display of abnormal blood flow.

Finally, replacing the CDP (color Doppler processor) board resolved the malfunction, and the machine resumed normal operation.
