Firstly, the +20V, +12V, and +5V power supplies were checked and found to be normal, ruling out problems with the CPU motherboard, memory, and hard drive. After communicating with the operator, it was learned that the malfunction occurred after bringing the machine back from the ward and turning it on after connecting the power plug and the graphics workstation. This suggests a possible electrostatic discharge (ESD) issue. Upon inspection of the video output board, the DVI driver TFP410P chip connected to the graphics workstation was found to be burnt.The circuit board at the integrated circuit pins was also burnt, and the board is beyond repair.
The movement of the instrument during transportation from the ward easily generates high voltage of 400-6000V due to friction. When the graphics workstation and the instrument are not grounded, there is a large potential difference. When the integrated circuit is subjected to ESD, the resistance of the discharge circuit is usually very small, unable to limit the discharge current, resulting in a peak discharge current of tens of amperes flowing into the corresponding integrated circuit pins.The instantaneous large current will severely damage the IC, and the heat generated may even melt the silicon chip. The damage to the IC caused by electrostatic discharge also includes the burning of internal metal connections, damage to the passivation layer, and burnout of transistor units.
The DIB BOARD V4 ASSY board was replaced, the ground wire was properly connected, and the instrument resumed normal operation after power-on.
