Cleaning and disinfection of Siemens ultrasound equipment and probes are based on the Spaulding classification principle.

 

 

 

Daily cleaning of the ultrasound console

Before cleaning the console, turn off the power and disconnect the power. After cleaning, wipe it dry with a clean, soft cotton cloth.

Housing: A soft cloth moistened with neutral soapy water can be used for cleaning (wring it out until it is not dripping).

Monitor: Use a monitor-specific cleaning agent to clean the monitor.

Filter: Remove the air filter at least once a week, remove dust with a vacuum cleaner, or wash it with clean water and let it air dry before reinstalling it.

Clean any residual coupling agent immediately after each examination.
It is recommended to use an enzyme-containing neutral detergent for cleaning; soapy water can be used for cleaning and rinsing (please turn off and disconnect the power before cleaning).
For probes that routinely contact the body surface, it is recommended to use disinfectant wipes containing dialkyldimethyl ammonium chloride for disinfection.
Clean the probe cables regularly, place them on hooks, and avoid dropping them on the ground to prevent contamination.

TEE transesophageal probe:

 

After use, remove the probe and protective cover.

Immediately rinse the probe with water for at least 1 minute. Wipe (using gauze soaked in 70% isopropyl alcohol or an approved cleaning agent) to remove mucus or biological contaminants.
Immerse the probe in Cidex OPA (orthophthalaldehyde) solution for at least 30 minutes. Do not exceed the last depth marking on the catheter.Parts of the probe that cannot be immersed, such as the control handle and connector, should be cleaned with 0.1% benzalkonium chloride.
Rinse with water, wipe with gauze soaked in 70% isopropyl alcohol or an approved cleaning agent, and hang to dry.

 

Intracavitary probe

 

Please use a disposable sterile sheath, then use disinfectant wipes containing dialkyldimethyl ammonium chloride for disinfection. Clean before disinfecting, and ensure one-person-one-disinfection.  

 

Intervention probe

 

Use a disinfected disposable probe cover; high-temperature disinfection should not be used during sterilization, low-temperature plasma, sodium hypochlorite, or glutaraldehyde immersion disinfection are recommended. After disinfection, rinse with sterile saline to avoid disinfectant residue.

 

Disinfection of ultrasound consoles and probes during the epidemic prevention period

The console, monitor, touch screen, control panel, and probe cables should be completely wrapped with protective films such as plastic film. Use disposable probe covers for the probe.

After each use, with the protective film in place, disinfect with 75% alcohol or 70% isopropyl alcohol. (Use wipes or spray disinfectant onto medical non-woven fabric, the humidity should be close to that of a wipe), be careful to prevent the disinfectant from flowing into the gaps in the control panel or the probe jack.

UV irradiation of the entire machine for 30 min/time.  

Finally, remove the protective film and probe cover, and repeatedly wipe with disinfectant wipes to ensure there are no dead corners. Then the treatment for the next patient can begin.
