The CCD is the core component of the electronic endoscope, a miniature camera system with a charge-coupled device. Preventing its malfunction requires maintaining the airtight seal of the endoscope body. The inspection, cleaning, and disinfection of the endoscope are all performed in a liquid environment. Leakage into the endoscope body can cause blurry images and blemishes. If not handled promptly, these can lead to permanent image blemishes, affecting diagnosis and even damaging the CCD. Common faults causing leaks and CCD damage include damage to the bending section rubber and the biopsy channel.

1.1 Damage to the Bending Section Rubber: The bending section rubber is a section about 10cm long at the front end of the insertion tube, made of very thin rubber. During the inspection, cleaning, and disinfection of the endoscope, it should not come into contact with sharp objects or instruments. After prolonged use, we have found signs of wear and tear on the rubber. This may be due to friction with the teeth. Therefore, during insertion and withdrawal, contact between the rubber and the teeth should be minimized.

1.2 Damage to the Biopsy Channel: The biopsy channel is the passage for biopsy forceps and treatment instruments. Improper operation can easily damage it, leading to leaks. During operation, wear and tear on the inner wall of the biopsy channel should be minimized. When inserting instruments, straighten the endoscope body first, and then adjust the angle after the instrument has passed through the channel opening. During endoscopic treatment, the attachments should be extended from the biopsy channel before the switch is activated. If resistance is encountered when inserting an instrument, do not force it.

1.3 Damage to the bending section rubber and the biopsy channel is often not detected immediately. Therefore, to detect problems promptly and prevent CCD damage, it is best to perform a leak test every day after the inspection. If leakage is detected, send it to a repair shop immediately.
