With the rapid development of science and technology, more and more cutting-edge technologies are being applied to the medical field. Similarly, ultrasound diagnostic instrument technology is also constantly developing. The GE Vivid7 color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic instrument is mainly used for abdominal, peripheral vascular, cardiac, obstetrics and gynecology, small organ, transcranial, transesophageal, and intracavitary examinations. It is an industry-recognized ultrasound cardiodiagnostic device capable of quantitatively analyzing data such as the speed, acceleration, phase change, displacement, and deformation of myocardial motion.

1. Fault Phenomenon
The GE Vivid7 color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic instrument experienced a sudden shutdown and black screen after operating for 30 minutes, and was unable to power on again.

2. Repair Process
(1) The 220V AC power was checked and found to be normal, and the AC fuse was intact, indicating no input problems.
(2) After opening the cover, it was found that the circuit boards inside the machine were arranged compactly and had accumulated a lot of dust. After dust removal and maintenance, a test startup was performed. The device started normally, and all functions were normal.
(3) The device suddenly shut down after about 30 minutes of operation and could not be turned on again; the fault phenomenon reappeared.
(4) After 10 minutes, the device successfully started again. It was discovered that the CPU cooling fan was not working. After shutting down, the fan was replaced, and the fault was resolved.

3. Fault Analysis
Due to the failure of the CPU cooling fan, the CPU overheated, causing the device to shut down. After the device shut down, it could not be restarted for a short period of time because the CPU remained overheated. When the CPU temperature dropped to the operating temperature range, it could be started normally again. This repeated occurrence was characteristic of this fault. After replacing the CPU cooling fan and thermal grease, the fault did not reappear.

4. Summary
The cause of this fault was CPU overheating. In addition to fan failure, the compact design of the device and dust accumulation also contributed to the overheating. It is recommended to replace the cooling fan and thermal grease during maintenance to help dissipate CPU heat. Regular dust removal and maintenance of the equipment is also necessary.
