1. Malfunction Phenomenon
During normal operation, the Vivid E9 cardiac ultrasound diagnostic system suddenly shut down automatically. After restarting, the same situation occurred again after a period of time.
2. Malfunction Analysis and Troubleshooting
While the machine was operational, the log (data recording device operating status) was copied using a U disk. In the logfile (data file recording device operating status), searching for "shutdown", the statement "DRX3TOP=81 exceeds the upper limit of 80" describing the abnormal shutdown of the machine was found, indicating that the temperature tested by the DRX sensor exceeded the upper limit. By checking the same time in the logfile-TempMon (data file recording the device's operating status), it was found that DRX3TOP reached 81 three times, indicating that the temperature exceeded the upper limit, causing the machine to automatically shut down. Therefore, the cause of the alarm is analyzed as possibly due to excessively high internal temperature or DRX sensor damage. Following the principle of easy-to-difficult maintenance, the first consideration was that the rear filter of the machine was clogged with dust, resulting in poor air circulation, poor heat dissipation, and causing the internal temperature of the machine to become too high, triggering an automatic shutdown. The machine was turned off, the power was disconnected, and the filter mesh at the bottom of the machine and the filter sponge at the rear of the machine were removed. Little dust was found. The machine's placement environment was observed again; the room was small, but the ventilation was good. The right side cover of the machine was opened, and the fan at the bottom of the machine was pulled out. Severe dust accumulation was found, and it was immediately cleaned and dried. After cleaning, the machine's power was connected, and the power button was pressed to start the machine. The machine operated normally. After a week of observation, the machine did not experience automatic shutdown again, and the malfunction was resolved.
3. Summary
In this maintenance and diagnosis, the log helped identify many malfunctions during machine operation, assisting in determining the cause of the malfunction. When analyzing temperature and voltage logfiles, the Txt files can be imported into Excel spreadsheets for analysis, facilitating easy query of malfunction statements and making the analysis process extremely convenient. This malfunction was caused by poor heat dissipation due to dust accumulation on the cooling fan. Therefore, during routine inspection and maintenance, attention should not only be paid to cleaning the dust from the filter mesh but also to cleaning the dust from the cooling fan. In daily work, routine maintenance and preventive maintenance (PM) plans must be developed and implemented. This not only reduces equipment failure rates but also more effectively improves equipment utilization.
