High-value consumables see price cuts of up to 80%, involving Abbott, Boston Scientific, B. Braun, etc.

On August 1, Qujing City, Yunnan Province held a signing ceremony for the first batch of selected products from enterprises participating in the volume-based centralized procurement of high-value medical consumables alliance.
Specific varieties include coronary balloon catheters, coronary guiding catheters, coronary guiding wires, dual-chamber pacemakers, and pacing leads.
According to preliminary estimates, the highest single-product price reduction in this batch of centralized procurement reached 80%. Among them, the average price reduction for balloons is over 70%, the average price reduction for catheters and guidewires is over 40%, andHeartthe average price reduction for pacemakers is over 20%.
It is estimated that this batch of centralized procurement varieties will save Yunnan Province 150 million yuan, of which Qujing City will save 30 million yuan.
Liu Benfang, deputy mayor of Qujing City People's Government, demanded that alliance hospitals, as the main body using high-value medical consumables, must purchase according to quantity and fulfill their contracts.

It is understood that on July 13, the Qujing City Medical Consumables Joint Procurement Office issued an announcement that it has completed the on-site negotiation and pricing for the first batch of the 2020 first batch of volume-based centralized procurement of high-value medical consumables for public medical institutions.
According to the news from the Qujing Municipal Government website, a total of 37 medical device companies participated in the negotiation, including Medtronic, Abbott, B. Braun, Boston Scientific, Lepu, Shandong Jiwei, Shanghai Kangdelai, Shanghai MicroPort, and other well-known domestic and foreign medical device companies. However, only 10 medical device companies were finally selected, and some well-known medical device companies were not selected.
It is understood that the total procurement volume is 70% of the total planned procurement volume of the procurement alliance of secondary and above public medical institutions in Qujing City in 2020 (June 2020 to May 2021), and the procurement volume of other 15 prefectures (cities) in Yunnan Province and 7 provincial medical institutions is also included in the total procurement volume.
Consumables prices reduced by 78%，8month implementation
In addition to Qujing City, Yunnan Province, the results of volume-based procurement in Fujian Province have also begun to be implemented.
According to the Fujian Provincial Medical Insurance Bureau's "Notice on Implementing the Concentrated Volume-Based Procurement of Medical Consumables in Our Province" issued by the Fujian Provincial Medical Insurance Bureau and the Fujian Provincial HealthHealthCommittee, starting from August, the selected results of the concentrated volume-based procurement of medical consumables in Fujian Province will be implemented, with a cycle of one year.ProcurementThe agreed procurement volume is determined based on 70% of the total usage of secondary and above public medical institutions in the province from October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2019.
It is understood that on July 10, the Fujian Provincial Medical Insurance Bureau issued a notice on the results of the concentrated volume-based procurement of consumables, involving 4 categories of consumables: artificial joints (including total hip arthroplasty and total knee arthroplasty), indwelling needles, ultrasonic scalpels, and analgesia pumps.
A total of 76 medical consumable manufacturers participated in this volume-based procurement, and after two rounds of bidding, most of the mainstream clinical products of various consumables were selected.
Compared with the current procurement price in Fujian Province, the average price reduction for artificial hip joints is 35.32%, the average price reduction for artificial knee joints is 32.12%, the average price reduction for indwelling needles is 67.51%, the average price reduction for ultrasonic scalpels is 40.77%, and the average price reduction for analgesia pumps is 78.88%.
From the selected results, it can be seen that the selected enterprises for ultrasonic scalpels include Johnson & Johnson, Olympus, Tianjin Ruiqi, Beijing Sumaike, and Wuhan Banbiantian;
The selected enterprises for primary total hip arthroplasty include Johnson & Johnson, Stryker, Zimmer Biomet, and Shandong Weigao; the selected enterprises for primary total knee arthroplasty include Johnson & Johnson, Zimmer Biomet, Stryker, Shandong Weigao, and DaBo Medical;
The selected enterprises for closed indwelling needles include BD, Shandong Xinhuaande, Sanshin Medical, and Suzhou YuYue; the selected enterprises for analgesia pumps include Jiangsu Apeng, Henan Tuoren, and Zhuhai Funiya.
