1、Monitor Black Screen

Analysis: This phenomenon can be divided into two types: one is a fixed black screen, and the other is intermittent.

For a fixed black screen, it generally appears as a black screen after powering on. First, we observe the status of the instrument. Most of the current ultrasound operation panels and main processor modules will have some indicator lights or backlights. Confirm whether some light-emitting diodes are lit. If there is no response, check the main power supply directly. If the indicator light on the processor or operation panel is lit, we can divide it into two steps: First, check whether the voltage of the power supply to the main processor and the display is normal (there are usually some test points on the power supply that can be used for judgment). If it is normal, rule out the power supply, and the remaining considerations are the display itself and the processor. Second, for the display, you can consider using an external display (the voltage range is generally 110~240V), directly connect to the power supply, pay attention to the signal cable (commonly used VGA and DVA cables), and for the processor, generally consider the graphics card and memory.

For intermittent failures, the external method can be used to reversely troubleshoot. Taking the Philips HDI-4000 ultrasound as an example, after the machine is working normally, turn it off and then turn it on. The host panel indicator light is on, the keyboard control is effective, but the display is black. Analysis and inspection: The host keyboard control is effective, indicating that the host is working normally, the display is black, and the possible reasons are: ① The host does not output a video signal to the main display, causing the display to be black. ② Display failure: causes the screen to become black. ③ The display requires a +12V DC working power supply, which is provided by the host. If the host cannot supply a +12V DC working power supply, the display will also become black. Starting with the simplest check, first measure the power supply terminal of the display, and the voltmeter shows that the voltage is 0V. This means that the black screen of the display is caused by the lack of DC working voltage, so check the power supply board PsM, and find that the +12V switching tube that supplies the working voltage of the display in the host switching power supply box is open-circuit and damaged, resulting in no normal voltage output. After buying a transistor of the same model in the market and replacing it, there is a +12V output, the power supply is normal, the display black screen fault is eliminated, and the ultrasound works normally.

 

2、The instrument can be turned on normally. But abnormal during use

 

 


The instrument can be turned on normally, but during use, regardless of the mode or probe, the imaging area shows fish-scale-like, water-wave-like noise, and the image is blurred in Doppler mode. This phenomenon is one aspect of the instrument itself. We can perform self-tests on the instrument and replace the probe channel or use a substitute probe for analysis. On the other hand, we must also consider the existence of external interference.(Generally, a standard grounding line and independent power supply network should be equipped for ultrasound, away from high-power equipment and transmission towers). Some come from power coupling interference. You can choose to change the room, disconnect UPS, voltage regulator, etc., find a stable voltage line to turn on and observe, and find the interference source to eliminate it.

 

Taking Philips ENVISOR as an example, the fault is that the machine starts normally, and all control keys can be controlled, but the image is unclear under color conditions, and it is difficult to resolve the blood flow diagram. Analysis and inspection: The host can start normally, the 2D black and white image is good, only the image is not very clear under color conditions, which is due to the machine itself and also the objective environment. We first performed a self-test on the ultrasound machine, and the self-test results did not find any faults. During the inspection process, three probes equipped with the machine were used in turn, and we found that all three probes had different degrees of interference, which may be caused by the poor working environment of the ultrasound machine. Therefore, we used a multimeter to test the AC output voltage of the voltage regulator, which was 220V normal, but when measuring the zero line and ground protection line of the power supply, there was an AC voltage of 39V, and this voltage was unstable, changing from time to time, and exceeding 40 volts when high. Checking the ground connection, we found that this ground line was connected to the zero line of the hospital power supply system. After re-grounding the machine, the ultrasound machine worked normally. This example tells us that only good machines are not enough, and good working conditions must also be provided for good machines. Otherwise, no matter how good the machine is, if it is interfered with by conditions, it cannot exert its due functions.

 

3、Instrument starts up with a blue screen


For blue screen phenomena, we can view the content prompted by the blue screen to help us analyze. Since many high-end ultrasound functions are based on software platforms and computer basics, computer failures are also applicable to ultrasound equipment. Consider software problems and hardware for storing programs in some processors, such as hard drives and motherboards.
Taking the Philips ENVISOR HD ultrasound as an example, the fault is a blue screen after startup. First, consider the software problem, reinstall it with the factory-provided system disk, and then start the blue screen. Consider the hard drive, the program stored in the current hard drive has been ruled out, the hard drive power supply is normal, and the motherboard is found to be faulty. After repair, it is normal.

4、The instrument has no response when turned on


This phenomenon must start from the source. Generally, ultrasound equipment will have a system power supply to supply AC and DC voltages to various components. AC can be directly measured with a multimeter to check whether it is normal. For DC, there are usually some test points on the power supply. We carefully find it and measure it, and consider the self-protection of the system power supply caused by internal short circuits and cut off the power supply, resulting in no power supply and inability to start.

Taking Philips ENVISOR as an example, the fault is that there is no response when the machine is turned on. Observation shows that the indicator light on the keyboard is not lit, the main processor light is not lit, and the internal fan does not rotate. Check that there is no voltage at the four AC output ports of the main power supply, and a row of DC output test points and light-emitting diodes are not lit, and the main power supply AC indicator light is off. However, after re-plugging the main power cord, the main power supply AC indicator light is on, and the AC power supply to the main processor is normal. At this time, pressing the power button still has no response, but at the same time, the main power supply AC indicator light is off. Consider that there may be a short circuit phenomenon inside the processor, causing the main power supply to cut off the power supply for self-protection. After inspection, it was found that the small power supply inside the processor was faulty, and it was normal after replacement.
