Failure Phenomenon
A Fujinon electronic gastrointestinal endoscope cold light source host suddenly stopped working during use, and the power indicator light did not light up.

Failure Analysis
After disassembling and inspecting, it was clearly seen that the fuse of the switching power supply was blown, proving that there was a serious short circuit in the switching power supply. After opening the power box, a lot of dust was found inside. After cleaning, the circuit was checked, and it was found that the high-power field-effect switch tube k2372 had been broken down and short-circuited, and two 5w10 high-power insurance resistors were also burned out. No other abnormalities were found.
The other circuits of the host were checked and no abnormalities were found. It is preliminarily judged that the failure was obviously caused by too much dust and humid air, which caused the high-voltage discharge of the switching power supply to break down the high-power field-effect switch tube, burn out the insurance resistors and fuses, and cause the host to stop working.

Fault Repair
Replace all the faulty components that have been checked, and carefully check the circuit again. There is no short circuit phenomenon. Install the power box back into the chassis, turn on the machine for testing, and the machine does not respond. Obviously, the switching power supply does not oscillate, so there is no output.
The power box was disassembled again to check the replaced components, and they were not burned out again. It is suspected that there are still problematic components. Due to the lack of circuit diagrams, it is inconvenient for repair. There is also a small vertical circuit board that works with the field-effect switch tube. There are integrated circuits and many surface-mount components on it. It is judged that this pulse modulation control board may be faulty. If it does not work, it will affect the power supply from oscillating, and the whole machine will not work. Later, a super intelligent switching power supply module was found, and this module contains an oscillation circuit. Afterwards, all functions of the machine have been running normally, and the fault has been eliminated.

Summary
When repairing switching power supplies, such problems are often encountered. All components are checked and everything is normal, but it still cannot oscillate. When encountering such problems, we can replace them with similar modules provided on the market, which is convenient, quick, and saves time. Most importantly, the total cost of repairing this machine is very low, which greatly saves repair costs and is a very good choice.
