China has become the world's second largest medical device market, and is still growing at a rate of around 10% per year. At the 272th China Engineering Science and Technology Forum and Cardiovascular Innovation Medical Devices Forum held recently, Hu Shengshou, director of the National Cardiovascular Center, said that cardiovascular is an important field of medical device innovation, and cardiovascular disease has become the nation’s first death. The reason is that there are 290 million people with cardiovascular disease in the country, and about 3.7 million people die of cardiovascular disease every year.
Hu Shengshou said that under the guidance of the national innovation-driven development strategy, new drugs, new devices, and intelligent tools products are emerging one after another. Reasonable approval and scientific supervision face enormous challenges. It is necessary to do a good job of top-level integration, improve the “regulatory science system”, and strengthen research and development to Link building and capacity building at all levels. At present, the focus of cardiovascular medical devices includes artificial heart, degradable stents, and interventional valves. Among them, the artificial heart is one of the medical devices with the highest "gold content". It is expected that the third generation of “artificial heart” independently researched and developed by China will enter clinical research next month.
